At TimeLapse Go’, we don’t announce a new feature until it’s ready for you! We’re not looking for hype, we’re looking for your lasting satisfaction!
Our engineers have been testing our automatic face blurring solution for months. Our Artificial Intelligence has undergone a very long learning phase to achieve 100% customer satisfaction!
From now on, you can choose to activate the face or zone blurring option on all your new projects, as well as on your existing ones!
We offer you the only 100% RGPD-compliant connected photographic worksite monitoring solution! Faces are blurred on the original file, no image is stored without blurring, the only way to comply with the RGPD. Blurring only on the interface would be completely illegal, as would storing unblurred images locally.
What does the RGPD say:
Regulation nᵒ 2016/679, the so-called General Data Protection Regulation, is a European Union regulation that is the reference text for personal data protection. It strengthens and unifies data protection for individuals within the European Union. The part we’re interested in here prohibits the storage of identifiable images, or images identified by specific elements specific to a person’s physical or physiological identity, without that person’s consent.
How does face blurring work?
At TimeLapse Go’, we’ve always taken care to ensure that every shot we take is instantly sent to our servers, with nothing stored locally. This avoids the risk of data being lost or stolen in the field, and gives you a truly accurate job site tracking tool, while still being able to trace the history of events precisely at any time.
When the blur option is activated, every shot is instantly processed by a powerful machine that inspects every pixel and recognizes faces by learning from hundreds of thousands of photos. As soon as a face is identified, the machine creates a translucent circle in its place, making the silhouette permanently unidentifiable. All these operations take around 9 seconds, after which the photo is immediately available on your tracking interface.
The automatic face blur option is available for future and current jobs, and can be activated or deactivated in less than 24 hours.
Do I have to blur all jobs?
No. This option is not essential for all job sites, as the people involved must be clearly identifiable and must not have signed a broadcast authorization. If people are far away in the image, the risk of being identifiable is almost nil… your TimeLapse Go’ contact will be able to answer any questions you may have on the subject.
Zone blurring:
It is now possible to blur one or more areas of the image at your request. Parking lots, roadways, neighbors’ windows or terraces. Blurred or flattened in color, you can choose the density according to the level of confidentiality required. Blurred areas can be updated as the work progresses.
How much does it cost?
Blurring has a cost. This is justified both by the work required of our engineers to make it reliable and efficient, and by the fact that it requires substantial IT resources. Each shot is analyzed in real time by machines that are necessarily very powerful, given the very high quality of our shots. For automatic face blurring, we charge a small monthly fee per box processed.
Zone blurring, on the other hand, requires the intervention of a developer to define the zones and program the machine, which is then reproduced automatically. Zone blurring is therefore a flat fee per box, independent of duration.
